Seasonal Opening

Havant Library of Things closes at noon on Thursday 21 December 2023 and reopens at 10am on Thursday 4 January 2024.

Wishing all our borrowers, supporters and friends a very Happy Christmas. Have a great start to 2024 and we look forward to seeing you in early January.

Join our Advisory Group

Would you like to help get the Library of Things onto a long-term sustainable footing? We are looking for Stakeholders and Community Leaders who can bring in expertise and advice to form an Advisory Group to help develop the project to ensure it meets the local community.  If that is you – we would love to hear from you!

The main role of the Advisory group will be to guide and support a 12-month workplan to develop the Library of Things.

The Advisory Group will meet six times a year. For this role we ask that you commit to attending a minimum of four of these meetings and be willing to submit brief comments on issues under discussion in advance of any meetings you cannot attend. There will be a small amount of paperwork to read and respond to in the run up to and immediately after these meetings.

Outside of meetings we are also looking for our group members to champion Havant Library of Things and to signpost people to it when the opportunity arises.

This is a volunteer role for 12 months offering the chance for you to have a genuine input into creating a sustainable new environmental service for the local community.

To find out more about Havant Library of Things visit: www.havantlibraryofthings.org.uk or to discuss the role please email Anne Sayer – anne.sayer@solentremade.co.uk / phone 07952 270372.

To apply for this role please email Anne with your name and contact details and a short paragraph about your motivation to be part of the advisory group along with a brief description of any skills and experience that are relevant to this role.

Our official launch!

We were thrilled to welcome some of our funders for a small launch at Havant Library of Things at the end of January.

The launch saw funding partners including South Western Railway, Hampshire County Council and Community Rail Network as well as some of our volunteers join us on a sunny day at our premises at Havant Station.

Our new pricing policy

Our pricing structure at Havant Library of Things is based on a percentage of the cost of an item if we were to buy a new one to replace it. Our lending fees help cover the cost of running Havant Library of Things.

We know that our pricing structure does not work for everyone. Perhaps money is tight or you only want to use an item briefly even though you have checked it out for a week. We do not want cost to be a barrier to borrowing. Therefore , all our lending prices are now based on a “suggested donation” principle.

If this price does not work for you then please do continue to borrow from our Library on a “Pay What you Feel” basis.

We look forward to seeing you at Havant Library of Things!
